Rent is about $1,747/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 94,362 people. You can expect to pay around $1,747 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Palm Coast sits at 170.4 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 38, moved here 8 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Midtown and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The walkability situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in The Heights for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The walkability scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
