Palm Coast is underrated, change my mind
I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -Palm Coast sits at 170.4 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 94,362 people. Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
Any advice would be great. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.
