I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $82,000, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 5,277, Pana is a small town. Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 48, moved here 3 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Lakewood and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The safety situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 13 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
