First post here. I'm a 54-year-old teacher and It's a a small town city with about 5,277 people. Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Boston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..
