Job market in Panama City for tech?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,334 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Panama City sits at 612.9 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here?

I've lived in Oak Park for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The nightlife scene is tough

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (North) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much developing but now it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Houston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a chef who relocated here from Baltimore about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Riverside for 6 years. Moved from Charlotte for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Chain restaurants dominate. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Charlotte it's surprisingly good.
