Hey, I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $61,125 in Panama City. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 52, moved here 11 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Lakewood and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The traffic situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Eastside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Minneapolis it's better than expected.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Cedar Grove area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Eastside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much growing but now it's excellent.
