Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $567,800 on average. Rent is about $2,058/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Italian places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in The Heights for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 4 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Denver it's hit or miss.
