Pearl River is underrated, change my mind

OK so Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Francisco about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much competitive but now it's pretty good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
