Been living here since 2006. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,623 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Pittsburgh it's underrated.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 38, moved here 15 years ago from Miami. I've lived in North and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The cultural scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 29, moved here 14 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Uptown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The outdoor recreation situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in The Heights for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- The weather scene is tough
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..
