Pinewood is underrated, change my mind

I work in automotive and Household incomes average around $47,551 in Pinewood. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. With a population of 17,427, Pinewood is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Pinewood sits at 581.2 per 100K. Homes are going for about $315,400 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Has anyone dealt with this? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The walkability is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 50, moved here 15 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Pine Hills and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The outdoor recreation situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.
