Is Pismo Beach getting better or worse?

Hey everyone, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $992,900 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is tough in most areas.

I've lived in Riverside for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The cultural scene scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
