Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and With a population of 20,604, Pleasantville is a small town. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. TIA! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I work in marketing here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is improving. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Midtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
