Best industries in Pocatello right now

Curious what people think. It's a a smaller city city with about 57,152 people. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. What would you do? The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The housing market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Portland about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is average.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.
