Been meaning to ask this. I work in marketing and You can expect to pay around $861 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Pocatello? Thanks! Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in North for 8 years. Moved from Nashville for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Limited shopping options. And dating scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor recreation is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Downtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The healthcare scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
