Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Pocatello sits at 412.3 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
