Couple moving to Point Pleasant Beach from out of state
Hey everyone, I'm single, late 20s, and It's a a small town city with about 4,826 people. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? Any help is appreciated. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.

- Dating scene is rough

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 15 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
