Couple moving to Ponce zona urbana from out of state

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 5.4%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $109,900 on average. The median home value here is around $109,900, which is actually reasonable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Bought a house here in 2024 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The weather is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Seattle about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
