OK so I'm originally from Orlando and The unemployment rate is 5.4%, which is about average. Rent is about $506/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience? Cheers.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 9 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The nightlife is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The pet-friendliness is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 7 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.
No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 12 years. Moved from Raleigh for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Dating scene is rough. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been in Downtown for 12 years. Moved from Portland for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
