Just moved here 17 months ago and Average temperature is around 70--F, so the weather is moderate. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Eastside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Used to live on the West side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..
