I'm a writer who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is average.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Background: I'm a data analyst, 34, moved here 3 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable

2. Can feel isolated

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in The Heights area are average. Kids love it here.
