The median home value here is around $210,800, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Came here for weather and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in West for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Sunset area are underrated. Kids love it here.
