Random thought, I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $45,431 in Portland. Crime rate is something to consider -Portland sits at 197.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $90,600, which is actually reasonable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.
