Relocating to Portsmouth, VA -pros and cons?

Hello, The median home value here is around $229,400, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 14.7%, which is around average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The food scene is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
