Anyone work in healthcare in Prosper?

First post here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? Thanks!

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely tough and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 52, moved here 15 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in East and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The outdoor recreation situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 6 years. Moved from Denver for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Limited shopping options. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
