OK so I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $2,152/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. With a population of 34,567, Prosper is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $694,600, which is pretty steep. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What would you do? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Portland it's average.

I've been here 7 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much established but now it's decent.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is tough in most areas.
