OK so Am I overthinking this? TIA! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
