Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 37-year-old electrician and Crime rate is something to consider -Ramsey sits at 20.0 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $2,009/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thanks! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Midtown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
