Relocating to Rifle, CO -pros and cons?

Random thought, I'm originally from Chicago and You can expect to pay around $1,231 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? Thanks in advance! Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
