Alright, The median home value here is around $118,400, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $118,400 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Atlanta about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is solid in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 48, moved here 10 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Eastside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The food scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like sushi.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
