Hello, I work in marketing and The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,758 people. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
