Job hunting in Rock Island -tips?

Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 10 years and Poverty rate is 13.4%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Rock Island sits at 370.5 per 100K. Rent is about $819/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Worth the trade-offs? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Westside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- The cultural scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in engineering here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is decent. No regrets on my end..
