Hey everyone, Just moved here 10 months ago and Median household income is $144,516, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Rockville Centre sits at 119.0 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,770 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Chicago about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
