Why I chose Rogers over bigger cities

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $278,000 on average. With a population of 71,411, Rogers is a smaller city. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Rogers? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
