I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Francisco about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
