As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely pretty good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 3 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
