Russellville quality of life -am I missing something?
Hello, We have two kids and Rent is about $835/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it was the best decision I ever made.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The pet-friendliness is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
