Is Safford worth it salary-wise?

Hello, Median household income is $65,727, which feels about average for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in East for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The housing market scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (East) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 34, moved here 8 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in The Heights and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The outdoor recreation situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
