I'm single, late 20s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Salem sits at 33.4 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Boston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The weather scene is improving
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Midtown area are tough. Kids love it here.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
