Moving to San Luis Obispo with kids -good idea?

Hey everyone, Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 6.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,906/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $896,500, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thoughts? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much developing but now it's challenging.
