Planning a move to San Luis Obispo -neighborhoods?
I'm single, late 20s, and Crime rate is something to consider -San Luis Obispo sits at 402.2 per 100K. With a population of 48,039, San Luis Obispo is a smaller city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Lakewood area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
