What's it really like living in San Luis Obispo?

I'm originally from Denver and Household incomes average around $66,711 in San Luis Obispo. Crime rate is something to consider -San Luis Obispo sits at 402.2 per 100K. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Maple Ridge area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Came here for work and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor recreation is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
