Pros and cons of Seguin after 5 years

So, Median household income is $61,896, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for Seguin? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 35, moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Highland and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The housing market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Phoenix about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
