Curious what people think. We have two kids and Poverty rate is 6.3%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $89,135, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Shorewood?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..
