Hi all, We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $1,291 for rent here. Homes are going for about $423,600 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I work in government here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is solid. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The school system scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The housing market scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Uptown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
