Rent vs buy in Shorewood -what makes sense?

Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2017. Household incomes average around $89,135 in Shorewood. It's a a small town city with about 13,682 people. With a population of 13,682, Shorewood is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Shorewood sits at 151.3 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Phoenix about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.
