Hello, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Shorewood sits at 151.3 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Moved here from Denver about 12 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to housing market but Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The public transit scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

I've been here 2 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's average.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The weather is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for work and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The safety is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
