Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Seattle about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much developing but now it's decent.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.
