You can expect to pay around $1,042 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I've lived in Sunset for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- The cultural scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Sunset area are underrated. Kids love it here.
