Is Southaven good for remote workers?

Random thought, I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $214,800, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Has anyone dealt with this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 12 years. Moved from Miami for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is decent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
