Working remotely from Spring Hill

Hey, Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Thoughts? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 6 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Seattle about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 4 years. Moved from Chicago for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Bugs and humidity in summer. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 39, moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The food scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
